Goldust Hydroplane on YouTube

Postby Dave88 » 06 May 2012, 20:15

Just spotted Goldust (Miss Boron / Crazy Baby) racing against some displacements in this video.
Would've been a wild ride with all that chop!

Now how did you find that? Stephen Brown out front in Maureen. Deepwater was never a good Hydro course, too narrow. Notice that there's no bridge at the bottom end, the video was shot before the M5 (I think it's called) was extended over the river.

As the current owner of Crazy Baby....many thanks....not sure coming a long last in the race is a good omen though. Restoration to start next year.

Thanks, the Carroll site was a good read. Good to see Bob in there as well. I didn't realise 'til now that Bob's skiff Cobba was Ray Skinner's old boat. They were a father & son team, Percy and Ray in Recoil and Reaction. Unfortulately, neither of them are with us any longer.

Bob has gone as well about 17 months ago but I learned a lot from the Carroll brothers when I raced at Silverwater and Upper Hawkebury. Bob had more skiffs than anyone I knew in fact I originally bought Al Falfa from him in the early seventies

Yep, went to Bob's funeral. I remember Alfalfa quite well at Deepwater. Didn't know that Bob owned it at some time. He also bought Bewitched, but didn't keep it for long.
