Hey jeff.... what about this one from a chippys point of view......when you cut a length of timber and find its wrong....therefore ending up with 2 short planks and a bit thick in the head for cutting it wrong........but how the hell does this tie in with boats???????
Hey hang on -

when you cut the plank(lapstrake) wrong...you have to butt block behind the (now) extra join therefore having 2 short planks thickened.....
obviously this would only occur where the boat length was relevant to the maximum obtainable length of timber....get what I mean....
A top question Jeff...........c'mon...are we getting close???
