Ahoy all, again not much to report, but I thought I would post this for those that are interested, bet you didnt know I was into acupuncture, hopefully good for sore backs (you know it makes sense!)
Of real interest, the Hookster put me on to a site to order Stainless steel fixings etc. The same box of Marine grade stainless steel screws in Tassie cost $100, but online at www.stainlessstore.com.au/ cost $38 plus $8.80 delivery to the door! However (I do not have shares in the company but its a great resource!) if you purchase more than $125 delivery is free Australia wide, awesome! Maybe worthy of an addition to the suppliers list Greg?
Hope all good, regards Chris.

I actually have to pass the kudos for the stainless store onto Bauchy. Apparently he does have shares in the company, and Australia Post.

Re: A Tasmanian experience
I have placed it in the Suppliers List, but I couldn't see any straight slotted screws. All Phillips or others?
Anyone know of where to get slotted wood screws, with a semi-countersink? The ones I am after have a countersink and a half-round head, the sort of screw that was used on the chrome strip running around a boat's rubrail (gunnel). They weren't always stainless, but often chrome plated.

Re: A Tasmanian experience
haha hookster, i think ive had bought my fair share. the screws i bought for my bowe cover would have cost me a small fortune at a bolt shop buy that web site saves heaps of coins. these days i look every where before i buy anything because there is always some where who has better service and more often then not the price is right.
if you cannot find the screw or bolt you need on the web site email them because they will more then likely have it or be able to get it.

Greg, go to eBay and put in brass woodscrews in the search bar on the opening page.
It comes up with heaps of woodscrews most are in the U.K
They are all slotted head and there are quite a few in different gauges an lengths available as countersunk raised head.
Importing them is no real trouble and if you need them "silver" colored you could get them plated once they arrive here in OZ
Hope this helps
