Hi Greg,
Im afraid Sunbeam's not ready for water yet, in fact, quite a way off yet, but the anticipation is killing me......you all know what I mean.
I'll be there all the same, for any one who wants a launch and retrieve crew, navigator, observer, spanner man, bearing in mind I now know which is the front and back...sorry Bow and stern  of a boat.....oh hell man.....Im even able to stay Sat night this year, (no clash with another event this year) so I'll be able to find out what really happens when the sun 's gone down with you mob. ;)
I'm looking forward to it.
So yes Greg, please put me down for 2 med. shirts.
cheers
Peter G

Narrandera 2010 shirts

Postby Greg » 09 Sep 2010, 21:49

It looks like all shirts will be around the $30 mark. The kids sizes are only a dollar or so cheaper, so it's easier to charge a standard rate across the board, with the few extra bucks going back into the club.
The shirts are screen printed again this year, making them a little dearer.

My son Tim is thinking about coming to Narrandera this year to see what we get up to, and wants to take a boat. Problem was, Nova had developed a water leak from behind an engine mount plate a couple of years ago and it wasn't getting any better. I figured it would only be a welch plug, but until the plate came off, I could't be sure. Naturally, to get the plate off, the engine had to come out. Needless to say, I have spent a few days pulling engines out, trying to clean filthy bilges, replacing welch plugs and doing a few other bits and pieces.

Here are some pics.

That was one dirty bilge. The oil sludge build up was anywhere bewteen 1/16" and 1/4" thick.

Lots of degreaser and time with a high pressure washer improved things considerably. It came up better than it looks in the photo.

Engine going back in. I really had to lift it high to clear the transom as I had to have the back of the boat high to allow the crane's legs to go under the trailer. Check out the new oil filter. I gave the old girl a treat and changed the oil - six litres! That's a heck of a sump for a little old 283 - and the filter still has to fill.

All is right with the world again.

Greg,
A couple of questions.
How there could be any oil in the bilge?
Why didn't you fit the other engine you had in stock?
Has Greg got a new Shed? (Looks like more room for boats)
Darren

PS. We will be there this year, I may bring a boat.

Darren

1) Yeh, I heard the main reason they drained Lake Talbot in 2008 was to get rid of the oil slick after Nova had been there.
2) The other engine is a little ordinary inside and will need a rebuild before I let you people loose with it
3) Greg's an interloper in his son's big shed. Unfortunately, he keeps filling it up with a BIG truck

Are you bringing a fast boat or a very fast boat?

Greg
