So, what ETA will that give you Ray. Going straight up or drop in on the way through?

Well......a day of very mixed fortunes. Had Pagan really flying (compared to recent outings anyway) It sounded crisp and with a few minor glitches (one tow in) I was very satisfied until the last run when I heard something let go, end result, number 2 bearing spun number 3 stuffed as well, crank needing to be ground and 2 stuffed conrods. It seems that the REBUILT motor wasn't as well built as it might have been. I guess i'm lucky that I didn't punch a hole in the block and that the only long term damage will be to my wallet. It appears the culprit may have been the over exuberant use of silicon, traces of which were found in the oil galleries of the crankshaft . Anyway we'll be back bigger and better, I'm excited by the potential. Thanks Greg and Ross for your help today.

You really dont need silicon in an engine rebuild. I only use it at the ends of the sump.
It really does find its way through an engine.
You can get a loctite that only sets when its starved of oxygen. Anything that oozes out stays liquid. I used it on the blower of the merlin for that very reason.

I gather you had some good advice from down the road on the way home Ray, Did he take a bit of interest in the set up of " Pagan" ?

Not the best end to the day, Ray, but at least you now know a few more things about it. Mind you, it was going good until it went off and you had a big grin on your moosh.

The video is uploading now - 5 hours to go, so it should be up tomorrow morning sometime.
