Bob

The zoomies will be an issue as the club has rule of not allowing them to be used at Toukley. As for a woodies race, anything is possible if we get enough of them. It's even possible that The Spook may be an attendee at the next race day.

Bob,
Dave has another set of pipes hidden away in the vault. Might have to dub them the "Toukley Pipes".

Yesterday we did a trial fit of a dummy engine and the Z drive. Main reasons were to see if everything fitted ok and to work out what we’re going to do regarding the exhaust.

Turns out we have three options and we’re seeking opinions from the learned gents on the Forum about which exhaust to use.

The options are ……………….

The Toukley pipes. (so dubbed in another post)
Dave had these stored in the vault, but it turns out they’re over the transom pipes, more suited to a rear mount. They could be made to fit with quite a few modifications, or a new set could be made up to suit the boat, using pre made bends etc. here’s a pic.

The Zoomies

Digging deeper into the vault, Dave had these rather unique looking zoomies. They’re made for a Chrysler but could be made to fit by just cutting the pipes off the existing flange and welding them onto Chevvy flanges. Here’s a pic.

The Sheila pipes. (so dubbed by Bob W)

Now why the hell would you want to put a set of water cooled through the transom Sheila pipes on a bad ass 427 skiff? Just because they will bolt on, the rest of the plumbing is pretty easy, you won’t damage your eardrums and have to get super expensive hearing aids, they won’t detract from the lines of the hull etc. etc. Here’s a pic.

Over to you gents, want to give us your opinion on which way to go out of these options? The Toukley pipes, the Zoomies or the Sheila pipes.

Initially use the Nicsons with turn ups to above Deck and sideways , suit the fun police at most venues. No holes in Transom and Zoomies could be easily fitted when wanted , would sound great in this style and water could be turned on and off if plumbed correctly.. Originally Boat ran Drag style Zoomies , check for picture of History on Ozboat racing Forum as the engine was lifted straight from the Skiff and placed in this Hull.

I'm with you Al, judging by the facial expression - I bet he wishes he had two more hands :P The sound out of the 4-1's would be f$#%ing impressive, not to mention the shockwaves in the face :geek:

Personally the zoomies get my vote for authenticity, and the watercooled manifold option is simply not an option. Jon.

Boys
The sheila ones get my vote as then you can run it anywhere without noise being an issue. I bet it goes fast enough to scare the driver with them.

Just to throw in another option how about "Ape handle bar style". What ever you decide it will look and sound fantastic. Cheers Chris
