Postby DaveD » 13 Mar 2013, 22:59

This reminds me of the "Comanche" Gill.

This one looks to be the perfect base for recreating a 70's race boat for use at Goolwa.

Hi Doc,
Some of us had wondered about that but how could you tell if it was?

Hi Dave,
By memory there was only 4 hulls like "VULTURE" - "COMMACHE" Colins boat which had a major mishap. that leaves 2 .About 5 years ago a Orange Gilflight was sold in the Bendigo area.
"VULTURE" ran a chev v-drive which was mounted close to mid-mount position. [this would be the first place to look engine bolt holes in the bearers.] The above photos look to be rear mounts which could have been converted over the years. I would be looking for chrome plating over kill in engine section [mounting plates and bolts].
Doc. THE ODDS 1 out of 3 left.

Does anyone know the daughter, Bindy Lewis? She was quite active regarding her father's racing career, you probably know about her web site. Maybe she should be contacted about this boat that's for sale, she's bound to be interested. Here's a link to her site.

I have met Bindy Lewis a few times at few VSBC races. I have bought a few DVDs from her and she has also posted a few pictures of mine on her website. I think the Vulture website is great. She is actively seeking "Vulture". This boat could be a possibility, not sure?? I will probably email her, perhaps someone has already done so? Would be brilliant if this is Vulture. A lot of history is attached to this boat. I too was seeking my Dad's boat and incredibly was able to locate and purchase it (Wildfire) after being lost for decades. So never give up looking, you might be surprised what you find.

Regards

Chris
