Narrandera 2012
Re: Narrandera 2012
Arrived an hour or so ago. Several others have also arrived. Great seeing familiar faces again. Weather is blue skies and low 20's. There's a it of construction work going on at the lake, but nothing that will stop us, although the pile driver could become annoying. I suppose that could be fixed with more beer

Re: Narrandera 2012
Many more arrived yesterday afternoon and last night, but not sure yet how many boats we will have. The weather is cool and crisp this morning, with a forecast of fine and 28 degrees.
Lots of work has been done on the foreshore, with grass layed over the entire area and the shoreline sandbagged. Not too sure how the boats will pull up against it, but we'll see. An excellent portable loo has been positioned for our use due to the pit toilet being in the construction zone - I reckon it's a real plus.
Work on the trailer parking area is going to make things awkward, with us having to take the trailers right out of the area, but we will just have to work around it.
More later

Re: Narrandera 2012
After a slow start yesterday due to the chilly morning, it turned out a great day with the wind dropping away and the sun really packing a punch in the afternoon.
Plenty of activity on the water and not much carnage. Runabouts were reliable when they weren't running out of fuel and the skiffs were as cantankerous as ever, except of course for the indestructable Al-Falfa.
Mixed feelings about the new sandbagged shoreline. Many boats were tying off to an anchor out the back to stop the boat swinging.
Great night at last night's BBQ, leading to a late night for most.
Weatherwise, they'e tipping 34 degrees today, so should be a good day on the water.

Re: Narrandera 2012
Hi all, just back from Narranderra. As usual brilliant weekend (or day and a half in our case) Carol and I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation, and everyone who trusted me with thier boats. Thanks Greg for mentioning the running out of fuel thing, even without mentioning names YEAH, I WAS ONE OF THEM..... Already looking to next year! cheers Ray
Re: Narrandera 2012
I was to come to Narrandera to day ,But overheating problems with my car still plaqe me.
After a diff change, water pump change and some brake problems[ forgot to tighten the brake mount bolts and they came off] hitching up the boat and bringing it home yesterday only to have the temp rise again I decided to give up.
Might just put it in the local lake today if the wind drops off.

Re: Narrandera 2012
Bad luck Ross. Looks like the boat gets sorted then the means of getting it anywhere packs it in.
Great day yesterday. Perfect weather and a reliable group of boats. Big night again last night, with plenty of bleary eyes this morning.
From the feedback, I reckon most people had a pretty damn good weekend. I know I did.

Re: Narrandera 2012
Home safe and well from a bloody unreal weekend!!!! I've just had about 3 hours kip and am starting to feel normal again. The trip home was hassle free, apart from when we stopped at the bakery in Narrandera on the way out of town and caught the attention of one of the local legends, who goes by the name of Larry Skewes and rides around on a Triumph motorcycle. He basically stopped his bike in the middle of the street (and stopped all other traffic as well), took his helmet off to reveal a very close cropped mohawk hairdo, and yelled out "WHO OWNS THE CLINKER?" i tried to pretend he must have been talking to someone else, but no, he homed in on me. The result was a very humourous conversation, which I might have caught on hidden camera. I'll probably do something with that footage when my brain is working better!!
Hats off to the organisers, and also to everyone present at the bbq last night who had to put up with me, see you in Yarrawonga in January, "y'all come back now, hear!!!" Cheers, Hookster.
