Re: All things powered by 327
That's it I'm moving to SA. I rang Shitroads the other day and to register the boat and trailer I have to make two appointments! As you can imagine the conversation went slightly downhill for a while (not unlike some of my coversations with the Child Support Agency a few years back), but I now have appointments at 1:05pm and 1:30pm next wednesday, which is an incredibly good use of my taxes I thought. Stay tuned....it can all still go well and truly pear shaped yet

Re: All things powered by 327
Just been down to our local RTA agency, with my blue slip inspection and application filled out, 12 minutes later trailer is now registered in NSW . Pocket is now $122.00 lighter but I am all legal for next weekends big adventure .

That's it, I'm moving to NSW! I wasn't actually registering a boat trailer, it was a brand new box trailer with all the "barnd new trailer" paperwork, and they still couldn't wade through their bureaucracy.

Greg,
is the box trailer to put Stormy's trailer in when it folds up next trip?

Hookster - Friday to Wednesday by my calculations gives them four working days to find a way to stuff it up. As Joh Bjelke-Petersen in Queensland use to say 'never count your chickens before they cross the bridge' ... but best of luck anyway.

Re: All things powered by 327
Well Bob your prediction was on the money...dragged the boat over to cobram and guess what? Their f&$@kin computer system was down. The Sheila there wouldn't even come out to inspect the boat and trailer so I could fix it all up later, oh no that would be too logical! So I'm back in cobram this morning getting the exhausts fabricated then I'll be back to Vicroads with no appointment for round 2. I wonder how that's going to go?
Re: All things powered by 327
Jeeeeez! Hope that Vic Roads aren't tapping into this BB. Some of us could earn a black mark for life on our admissions!
Good luck Hookster - sounds like you need it.

Re: All things powered by 327
the best way to register a boat trailer in vic is to go into vic rds and say you have just built a new trailer. u need a permit to take it in and get registered. the next thing they say is you cant get a permit if you dont have a vin number. next they will give you a vin number so u can then get a permit. once you have the permit make the appointment to register the trailer. because the trailer now has an id you can register it no worries. when you take it in the will just check you have trailer lights, size is ok and brakes if the trailer requires it.
the part where it is hard with vic roads is when you say you have an old trailer. they assume it was registered before so they need to id the trailer. as we all know this is not always easy. easiest way is to say you just built the trailer at home. its new so it needs an id. ive done this every time ive taken a boat trailer in and its registered that day with no worries.
anyway ya get it sorted for nerrandera

Re: All things powered by 327
You would be suprised how many of my boat trailers have the same vin no. all the rego lable says is home made. Thank the good lord for inventing trailer light boards with number plates attached. Your right about registering them, the less they know the better. Only problem will come when i sell one then it may get awkward. Ray
