Hi Peter,
the 596 hemi would like and go well, a bit of an overkill! And then there is the cost$$$!
Regards a V drive I know how much a new Argo box is, will get a price for a H&H box, not sure about where
the gears come from? I have seen plenty of both Argo and H&H boxes in circuit race boats.
When I saw Brian McCosker in Liberty flog the yanks in the BAD boat world champs at Hazelwood, Vic in 2007, I looked in his boat and saw an Argo box, if that isn't a good advertisement for Argo boxes, I don't know what is. There was once a time that people believed if it didn't come from the USA, it was no good. That is definitely not the case anymore.
If money is no object and you have an an engine with massive HP, the new CNC box from BNR engines (Melton, Vic) would probably be the ultimate, better than anything else in the world. But obviously overkill for anything with less than 1000HP!
Cheers
Chris.

Here is the plastic boat with a 1UZFE V8 as I spoke about before. I think guy's plan was to fit twin turbos
later on.

Re: New Syndicate
Looks good mate. I have a h&h in my boat. I was going to buy an argo untill this one popped up at the right price. In a social boat i wouldnt run gears over 5% . If u look in most v drive ski race boats they run argo boxs with no problems. That plastic boat has turbos on it now and goes very well as you could imagine. Keep the pics coming with the hull and good luck. Brian
Re: New Syndicate
Hi Chris,
Mystress is using the Cassell velvet drive bell housing. Actually in my mind its the Blyth / Cassell bell housing. I did most of the work making the pattern for that housing and we used my motor as the template for machining. I got the lucky first one off the production line and I'm pretty sure Paul was getting sick of me hassling him by the time I got it...
Anyway, Mystress is also using a Wolf 3D so let me know if you need a map to run the engine. Just remember you'll need to buy the sensor amplifier module from AEMS in order to run the stock Toyota crank and cam sensors. The Toyota sensors don't quite have enough output signal to reliably run the engine apparently. Mine fired up first time though and hasn't missed a beat since... I also have a supercharged 1UZ map too if you need it.
Get stuck into it! Only 2 weeks till Narrandera
Cheers!
Neil

Re: New Syndicate
Hi Brian and Neil,
good to hear the guy with the yellow plastic boat went ahead with the turbos, guess it goes pretty hard. Based on hat you guys have said, 5% seems a good way to go. I need two Vdrive boxes, one for Wildfire (my Dad's jag 6 powered race boat, that did a bit over 70mph with 5% gears) and one for the Syndicate. My plan is to run a stock 1UZFE in the Syndicate initially then maybe a supercharged Lexus later on. I can get the Syndicate going on the 5% box and then put this in Wildfire, when I am ready for the better engine in the Syndicate with taller gears. The plan anyway!
Neil the bellhousing looks good, the pattern would have been a lot of work! Thanks for the offer of the maps, I am still ages away (years) away! I have heard heaps of good reports about the Wolf ECUs. The Commodore I had with a 1UZFE used an SM2 Autronic and it would not run a stepper motor idle control. As a result the it used to hunt at idle, also the dealer who wired it up did the worst wiring job. Next time I will be doing it myself. The Autronic was very short on do it yourself info unlike the Wolf. Supposedly a good ECU, but I had lots of problems with it and the after sales service was non existant.
I am keen to get down to Narrandera, probably pass through on the way to Melbourne to pick up the trailer for Wildfire and hopefully bring it back to Sydney to work on. That is if I can get the time off work, things are pretty hectic at present.
Cheers

Re: New Syndicate
yes chris there is no substitute for cubic inches .then money and the financial controler puts a holt to it . i have an argo z drive in the cracker box an a h&h in the hydro .the boss of argo was great creating the z drive for me and they are only 40 mins from home. im working now a forgacs dockyard on the new navy ships ,any extras you need ?
Re: New Syndicate
Hi Peter,
still leaning towards an Argo box, when I can get on to H&H, I will price one of their V drives.
Cubes are great, but modern technology with boost can give cubes a real hurry up, even better when combined with cubes as well! This normally means more $$ as well! And I am lucky (or unlucky probably) not to have a financial controller! My turbo Falcon leaves most V8s for dead. That is only a 4 Litre six, so a 4 Litre V8 with a supercharger will be pretty good. Old school cubes are also good, have a soft spot for my 308 LH Torana, not as quick as the Falcon, but real character. Big cube Chev V8s are definitely an easy way to go, but I'm after something different, not necessary easier! I have played with Toyota V8s before and know what they are about. I will definitely get it going hard.
Hope everything at Forgacs is going well, I am pretty right for extra bits. I have started collecting small bits for both boats. The trailer for Wildfire is done. Just need the time to get down to Melbourne, get it registered and bring boat and trailer back up here. I have heard from some of the other guys, that Vicroads have been a pain to get trailers registered with. Later on I will need another trailer for the Syndicate, but that should be easier to get registered as brand new by the trailer guy.
Cheers

Re: New Syndicate
yes the freedom one has when one has no other half to curtail ones hobbies .im in the same boat (bad pun intended ) the hydro is ready to go just need to register it and add fuel hope to launch the next two weeks.
Re: New Syndicate
Hi Peter,
have attached the latest picture of the Syndicate, from about a week ago when I was down
in Melbourne. Was unable to get the trailer registered for Wildfire with the wait for Vicroads appointments in the little time I spent down there. But it has come up really good. Still have to come up with another one for the Syndicate, a bit later on. But now have a Newby steel skeg for the Syndicate made up.
Have you put your hydro in the water yet? Must be close, bet you can't wait?! Have never driven a real hydro, but have driven a RC model hydros, great fun.
Cheers
