Antique-Boatique that's probably the same sort of scoop. I have a small problem with mine..the round hole in the bottom plate is too big to suit my 600 Holley, so if nobody has a better solution, I may even attempt to cast one myself

MMMMMMM Bag Phone so sophisticated, I cant see why they didn't catch on

As for the scoop problem, can you turn up, or have a friend turn up, a alloy ring
to take up the differance in diameters?
Or for a more low buck solution, bend some alloy flat bar of the right size, into a ring

Cheers
Jeff

I think that's what I'll end up doing Jeff, damn I wish I could weld and do all that metal stuff, unfortunately woodwork was my forte. I have a mate who's a wizz at that sort of stuff so he can cop yet another of these comments: "Hey George do you reckon you could sort this out for me?"

Ok here is another addition to the family. the boat is a Goldsbrough and came from a farm at Murrabit (up near Kerang/Barham). It is called A-Jay (for the moment) and was used extensively on Lake Charm in its heyday. The original owner's surname was Kelly, and the boat was left on their farm when they sold it 10 years ago. It has been sitting under a tree from then until now, and as a result of a build up of leaves in the front cockpit it has at least one plank on either side which are stuffed, along with several ribs. The gauges are not too bad, however there are two small rectangular ones which are no good...I think one of them was a petrol gauge. On the plus side it is all there, complete with a 272 Y Block which has a Tawco triple carb manifold (only has two carbies on it though....the middle carby opening has a block off plate fitted). It has marine exhaust manifolds and a double fuel pump set up. I'll be relying on the Y Block fanatics in the club to assist with some knowledge etc when it comes time to sort the motor out. I removed one of the rocker covers for a bit of a sticky beak and it was surprisingly clean inside, and still had a fine coating of oil over the tappets. There's still oil in the sump, well, if you call black tarry material oil. There is an interesting drain plug set up...a knob protrudes out on either side under the front seat, each of which is connected to a rod which runs all the way back to the transom and connects to a drain plug either side of the cav plate. Anyway, here are some photos, including one shot of the world's most tolerant wife :)
