Nice one Thommo!! (Chivs I was not in church , well, actually I was pursuing my one and only religion...working on the boat trailer all day sunday) Thommo or Dave, I need a tow bar for my 67, don't suppose either of you have one laying around? (gotta love these long shots don't you!!) I had one on my previous 67 hard top, but took it off and then lost it during a couple of house moves.

Got some beautiful Edelbrock finned rocker covers off ebay, the tunnel ram is allegedly an original Hillborn fuel injection job and it came with the boat. I had the trailer sand blasted last friday and painted it gloss black using Killrust, 2 coats and it came up mint. Spent all day sunday rooting around fabricating brackets to hold the hardwood guards which will be stained and varnished to match the weatherboards on the boat, will post some pictures of that when it's done later this week. All going well the hull should be finished in a week or so, then it can go back on the trailer. Then the fun begins fitting the motor and tidying up the internals.

I might add that the tunnel ram is just sitting on there for the photo...I know it is facing the wrong way!!!!

And another additional comment: I painted the motor Mercury Phantom Black, not the traditional chev orange. The motor in the Impala is chev orange and looks good amongst all the black in the engine bay, but I wanted to break from tradition with the boat, especially given that the boat has a mostly reddish colour theme anyway. And I love the mixture of gloss black, and bead-blasted alloy components.

I picked up my motor yesterday Hookster, and it is as good as we thought, very happy Also dropped the VDO guages off today to Peter Meyer (can be found under the Victorian Suppliers list) seems a genuine bloke and believes the gauges I have are of good easy restorable condition, time will tell.
Your effort with the boat is looking great mate, cheers for now, Chivs.

The scoop on top of the carby is almost identical to the one I had on a 2 port hilborn injection on top of a 471 supercharger

Thommo several people have attested to the remarkable reception range these things had, but nobody wanted to comment on their value as a belt mounted accessory for that 'man about town' look.

Antique-Boatique that's probably the same sort of scoop. I have a small problem with mine..the round hole in the bottom plate is too big to suit my 600 Holley, so if nobody has a better solution, I may even attempt to cast one myself

They are readily available on eBay - just type in Hilborn Scoop and there are many types available already for a 4 barrel carby
