our project
Re: our project
Hi Peter, the best way to get through the dreaded CBF's is to stand back and see how far you've come and how close you are to finishing. Anticipation is a great motivator! Keep at it, it's worth the effort.

Re: our project
Thanks Ray.
I didn't get the shift lever fitted but I did get more of the wiring run to some of the places.
Amazing what Google can find for you in showing how things can be wired up.
Tonight I ran a wire for the fuel tank sender in case I decide to put an electric sender in the tank. I have the fuel gauge but may not use it. Did the last bit of wiring up of the amp connector under the dashboard.
Actually yesterday I spent half the day trying to find some things that I have put down 1and now can't find. I have given up and will now go and buy some more heat shrink for the electrical connections. It irritates that I do this sort of thing so often. It did give me cause to tidy up the laundry and the garage a bit.
Of course I will go and buy the heat shrink and then the "lost" assortment will turn up and I will have more heat shrink than I could ever use!!

Re: our project
Narva fuse board now sitting in my lock box. Dog clutch shift lever mounted on the engine bearers
Off to Sydney tomorrow for daughters graduation from Sydney University. So not much will happen to the boat till next week.
I'm going to give the carby and the overhaul kit to a friend from the car club and get him to put it through the carby of me. Then at least I know that it's OK. Then the engine is almost ready to either install or do a floor start before it gets stuck in the boat.
Chat soon
Peter.

The losing stuff is an interesting thing.
Generally my tools can be found in Lukes shed.
But I'm embarrassed to say he has received a "roast" for tools
I have later found tucked away in my shed......
Also if you wear reading glasses - you need 4 pairs
then at least you may find a pair when required!

Re: our project
Visited vicroads for trailer and boat rego. Paperwork all done but it can't be done straight away have to come back. Make an appointment.
No inspection on trailer required. Arrived today to do them both but found that I have left trailer rego paperwork at home. No idea when I can get another time. Hopefully before Xmas as I want to move boat to put engine in. My place is no good as it's on a hill and everything may end up out in the street.
Will attempt to register boat though. Would rather have left boat paperwork at home.
Visited Rolco this morning and bought the exhaust S bends and clamps.
My engine is a mixture of both Tawco and Rolco accessories.
There are a couple of things that I might still have to buy down the track but the budget wouldn't extend that far at present.
Wiring all run throughout the boat ready for connecting up after engine installation. Still not all that confident with the electrical stuff, but with guidance I will get it sorted

Re: our project
Another hurdle overcome. Boat is now Registered.
# is QK478.
If I want to move the boat I'll just have to get an unregistered vehicle permit until I can get the appointment sorted out.
Next move will be putting engine in place.
I have the log gland, fitted new seals, have the rubber tube and the clamps. I will install them and the shaft coupling this weekend.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be hot here in Melbourne so I may apply another coat of varnish to the deck in the morning and then let the heat bake it.

Re: our project
Bloomin hell, 41C today. Excellent for the drying of the deck varnish. Only problem was that the temperature came up really high fairly early. I still applied a coat but it didn't flow well and almost racked off after it hit the deck. Hence the brush strokes are visible and there a couple of holidays (missed areas). I think that I'll let it harden for a couple of days then wet and dry it back before I spray a couple of final coats of varnish on the whole deck area.
Then the next major thing is sticking the boat anchor in the hole in the middle. Then there is still quite a bit to do before it starts
Plumb the cooling system,
Do the exhaust
Get battery although I have a spare 660cca Odyssey battery which will probably do to sort out the electrics.
Hook up all wiring
get a fuel tank, I have one but it's too big for where it has to fit. May put it on the do you need this/ bits for sale.
So not much to do really!!!
I think I may get the boat launched over Christmas but I doubt that it will be running.
So is Patterson lakes shallow enough for a launch and float but easy enough for a quick retrieval if necessary?

Re: our project
Heard of snakes and ladders?
Well, I just landed on a snake.
Goddam engine doesn't fit.
Not sure where to next.
Extreme disappointment!
