Today I have made a toeboard out of ply and a guard for the coupling out of ally, the foot rest for the throttle and the battery holder to mount on the left hand bearer next to the motor.
Will give them a coat of clear tomorrow and mount the brackets on the bearers.
Have noticed that one of the header pipes hits the webber manifold so I will fix that during the week with a new bend and relocate the header pipe lower to clear it.

Re: Little skiff
Have now fixed the header pipe, and have fitted the two water injection tubes in to the colectors, coated and fitted the toe board, the battery box.
Have found all the mount for the water pump/ alt.
Will need to find a throttle pedal next and set that up
Dog clutch will need new bearings and seal

Re: Little skiff
Have now got the dog clutch and seal sorted, And replaced the bottom of the sump as that was very thin in some spots and fitted a threaded drain plug at the low end of the motor. A running motor has been bought and will be fitted so that at the end of the museum time it can go in the water. Temp seat covers have been made and fitted. extractors have been painted . Centre Finn has been fitted. Trailer will need hubs greased and a go over the nuts and bolts. should be close by next week.

Re: Little skiff
Well I finally got the boat sorted out last Friday , at least its complete now with only the fuel lines and throttle to do, though that I had finished the trailer until I hooked it up to take to the Museum and found that there was no safety chain .
Last minute rush all ways turns up some thing !!!
It got wet for the first time on the way over to Shepparton.
Next thing is to clean out the shed and start on the next one, but first I need to put some model A motors back together.

Re: Little skiff
Have to work out the throttle arrangement on the boat and fit the fuel tanks before the motor is removed for the new one as I have not done any thing to it since it came home but I have got my VS number for rego and It will get a name soon too!
Re: Little skiff
Have now work out the throttle peddle using a vn Holden with a few modifications with the grinder and welder will work fine and will be able to use a VN cable.
Next thing will be to buy a throttle linkage kit for the weber's.

Re: Little skiff
Linkage kit is on its way.
The engine block got bored today and will be honed tomorrow.
Time to get the rego sorted out before xmas.
Motor is getting a knife edge crank and full balance, flat top pistons and solid lifters and hot cam.
A yellow terra head and a alum. flywheel with the triple webers should be interesting to see how it will go .

Re: Little skiff
To day I have to renew my boat licence. so I took the boat papers with me, I payed the licence and asked about the boat reg, the lady asked for the engine no and checked that it was ok .
I thought that it would be going through but then I was told I have to have a booking tomorrow and go strait to the desk with the papers and it will be done.
Don't know why it could not be done when she had the papers and info up on the computer !!

Re: Little skiff
Just be very careful with the Aluminium Flywheels.
They may sound great in principle but have had real problems in historic racing.
The holes where the flywheel bolts have a habit of elongating as the aluminium is reasonably soft then the bolts break and flywheel comes loose.
Not so much a problem with a clutch holding things together. Supposedly.
But in a boat it could be a real problem.
I think I'd rather go for one of their light Steel Flywheels in preference to the Aluminium. And make sure that the flywheel is dowelled to the end of the crankshaft as well preferably 2 dowells.
Just passing on my thoughts on the matter.
But DON'T repeat DON'T even think of useing the ARP bolts that are sold to suit a holden flywheel as the head bearing surface area is too small. They are Ok for a Mini but not a Holden. The bolts are fine but the head is the wrong size.
cheers
