Hi Chivs,
BIG MISTAKE ! with the cap, i've seen this done before. You will have Head problems when she runs hot, should have had the Kangaroo facing down. Haven't you heard of that Aussie tune: " BLOWN THE ARSE OFF A KANGAROO "

There was some pics of a boat called INVADER, rear mount from memory in SA/ or broken hill racing but don't remember weather it was on the ozboatraces site or the skiboat site but it was in the early 70s I think

Chivs asked me to post this. He will add some comments shortly.

Great to see Tassie get into it.

Thanks Greg and ahoy all!

As per above, Hobart is having a mini Goolwa! Hopefully some old woodies will surface and will post the pics if they do! The pigeon will be taking Jupiter and old flame and perhaps one other with tax history?

I will probably display tomboy and maybe one other, but that's another story, hopefully in the next hollow log?

Cheers crew from sunny Tasmania

Ahoy all, and update report from the captains log!

With the talk of summer approaching and the need to get boats out of sheds etc I can report Tomboy has not been touched since the wooden boat festival Feb_March, started second turn and cruised the docks with the old man, Brent and daughter Isabella (belle). Great day and surprisingly we got 20 degrees so warm as well, bonus!
Tomboy engine hours now 101.5 and going strong!
Cheers from the captain.

Ahoy all from a winters and windy Tasmania!

We had snow down to the 400 meter level yesterday and the wind would blow the milk out of your tea! Crazy stuff when I see the NSW disaster!

It's now time to go public, as most of you know I have been restoring Torea for sometime now and the plan was to take her to Narranderra. Well unfortunately due to some engineering issues and a major distraction Torea is not looking at getting in the water for a while yet

The major distraction (no not the captain of the Windward Bound!) is a recent purchase! I have broken all my rules, one at a time etc etc! The short story is the pigeon had a fire sale and I happened to be first in, I think? Yes Bob living the dream, got a Hydro now all I need to complete the collection is a kneel down hydro and a skiff, still working on the pigeon to sort this issue out!

I now own Quickly Too, which is a DeSilva design from the US, 16ft 6 x 7ft 4 built by well known Hobart power boat racing driver Grant Lovell, who with brother Nigel were responsible for Country Boy, the awesome u tube footage posted here and on the OZ boat racers site, and currently for sale, Raza posted it on Do you need this under nice Hydro.

Originally Quickly Too was powered by a Holden 6 and recorded 100 mph. Later an Oldsmobile 225 ci was fitted and she recorded 114 mph in 1983.

We have lots of info for this boat right down to a personal letter from Sherman Polhamus who built the Oldsmobile motor in the states. This guy is responsible for a lot of the development of these engines and has an amazing history racing Hydros in the states, more on him later!

For now Brent and I have fitted a Rover 3.5 V8, the Oldsmobile equivalent, the original sump bolted on as well as the exhausts that come with Quickly Too, in a word, tough! We have done this to put her on display at the power boat reunion this Saturday.

Sunday (weather permitting?) Brent and I, and hopefully the Lovell Brothers will cruise up the river to the racing circuit at Granton on Tomboy for our mini Goolwa!

At the moment I am unable to post photos, I did send Greg some of Quickly Too in her hey days, if you still have them Greg it would be great if you could post them here please mate.
Plenty of photos to come from tomorrow and Quickly Too with the new power plant.

Cheers for now and looking forward to catching up with those going to Narranderra!

Hey Chivs, Nice one buddy, kept that on the QT for a while didn't you. Should be a great ride and you will be able to actually sit in it instead of taking up the Islamic prayer position as you did with Jupiter.
Also hope this weekend works out well for you guys. Have you lined up an Ice Breaker for the big event?
Is this a freeby, or is there a cost to enter your boat for the event?
Cheers.
Bob
