Other loves of my life

Old wooden speedboats do it for me, old aeroplanes (got to have a prop/s driven by a V engine or radial) do it for me, old cars do it for me and old steam trains really do it for me.

Went out today and drove a steam train (yep, actually sat in the left hand seat and operated it) from Maldon to Castlemaine (Vic) and return today (about 35 miles). What a blast! Dirt, soot, coal dust, steam, noise and more. Fantastic experience. Recommend it to anyone.

Amazingly, I bumped into Frank and Linda Wicks on the station platform in Castlemaine. They were still touring around after Goolwa last weekend. Frank asked "What are you doing here?" I could truthfully answer "I just drove the train in".

Great day.

How cool.is that greg. Did you buy a drive or swung it.
We went to the hot air balloon nationals today. They got a few of them in the showground and lit them up in the dark. It was awsome.

Dave

Birthday present from The Boss.

It was a full day thing: lit it up, oiled it, inspected it, turned it on the turntable (at both ends), shunted the carriages to make a freight train with one passenger carriage for the family to travel in. The whole deal. Even wheel spun it when departing Castlemaine

In the next few weeks there's a Tiger Moth flight scheduled

Life is good
