Just received the latest edition of the Hollow Log. As usual it was a great read. I picked one thing out of the mag and that was that we have member named Tom Heffernan. Now that is a name that I know and am wondering if is the person that I knew in a previous life.

The Tommy Heffernan that I knew raced a runabout in the 253/4.2 class in the mid 1970's. He was a foreman at Williamstown Naval Dockyard.

So is this the same person? If it is could he drop me an email to psneddon@bigpond.net.au

Regards,
Peter Sneddon

I love the front cover, years ago I had a guy corner me at a shop in Kilsyth after seeing my cars, he was chasing some 97 carbys and told me it was for a old wooden boat with a six carbed 409 in it, he had just had a heart attack at the price to rebore and build the engine.

Always wondered what happended to it, at a guess Im pretty sure that must be it, told me it was a record holder in its day, but he might have got the engine size wrong. He did say it was pretty sad and that was 12 years ago
Cant be many 348/409 engined boats around, although I did see one in the back of a shed last month in Narre warren waiting a resto :D

Nice article on the Yarra cruise wish I had made it but put me down for the next one

Not bad Greg, especially considering all the product being put on the BB these days, well done.

Loved the comment re the possible interest in coming to Tassie for the next wooden boat festival FEB 2013.
There would be heaps of interest in whatever could make the trip, the Festival organisers maybe able to organise some sponsorship re ferry costs etc. To get a car on the Ferry is cheap, $79 at the moment but put something on the back and then it goes up $$$$$, its not as simple as just another $79!
Don't want to put anyone off, but those who are thinking of coming should make a trip of it and stay for a week or more. I intend to take the month off and give anyone who is interested the A guided tour of Tassie with our boats if you are keen.

To be continued, Chris.

Hey all, what a great idea Chris, I've made the trip for the last 3 Wooden boat gigs, each time went to the show for the entire duration..without getting sick of any part.. a fantastic shw that is easily now world class, something I'm proud of and i'm a Vico...
Each time I took my motorbike over on the boat and then with a couple of other mates toured...or sped like mad around all those smooth tassie cops free roads for thr week following. A boat convoy from the mainland would be sure worth talking about???

Cheers Scott
